Tuesday, thousands of students, parents and school leaders from across the state got a lesson on safety. Tuesday, the Governor's 6th Annual Safe Schools Summit was held at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City.
The meeting teaches schools and communities how to keep Oklahoma's youth safe and drug free. Officials say school leaders and parents should emphasize the positive.
Dr Jah-rel Muata Kiongozi, speaking at the Safe Schools Summit: “a lot of times young people are hearing all the negatives like young kids are not doing this and not in school and drug activity is going on. What they don't hear is that they're valuable, that they're worthy and that they're good people.â€
Matthew Lillard, the star of Scooby Doo and Scooby Doo 2, also hosted Tuesday's summit.
