OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The number of traffic fatalities in Oklahoma in October is down from the same month a year ago.

But the total number of people killed on the state's roadways for the year is still ahead of 2003.

The state Department of Public Safety says 46 people died in traffic crashes last month, down by 25 from the 71 killed in October 2003.

For the year there have been 648 people killed in auto accidents in Oklahoma, up by 69 from the 579 killed at the same time last year.
