OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The Downtown Athletic Club of New York has sent letters to several college football players regarding the coveted Heisman Trophy.

According to The Oklahoman, Oklahoma tailback Adrian Peterson and quarterback Jason White received initial letters from the club this week.

The Oklahoman says the letters outlined the process by which the award is determined and what those hoping to receive the honor could expect.

White won the Heisman last year.
