She's known for her work with chimpanzees and in an effort to make the world a better place, Doctor Jane Goodall has created the roots and shoots program.

It's an environmental education program for young people, based on the principal that knowledge leads to compassion which inspires action. The program focuses on three areas, environment, animals and human community.

Doctor Goodall was in Tulsa Wednesday to talk about the Roots and Shoots program.

Thursday, Doctor Goodall will be presented the Spirit of Will Rogers Award at a special gala at the Oklahoma Aquarium.
