ENID, Okla. (AP) -- Enid city officials are planning a lawsuit challenging a new state law allowing city workers to unionize.

The law went into effect Monday and allows city workers in cities of 35,000 or more population to join a union.

City employees of Enid, Lawton, Moore and Bartlesville and of the Oklahoma City Zoo filed petitions Monday asking to unionize.

Enid City Attorney Carol Lahman says the law is unconstitutional special legislation because it applies only to cities of 35,000 or larger.
