NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ No criminal charges will be filed against former Oklahoma defensive tackle Dusty Dvoracek for an alleged assault on one of his friends, the Cleveland County district attorney's office said Monday.

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops dismissed Dvoracek from the team after the Sept. 11 incident.

Matt Wilde, one of Dvoracek's teammates at Lake Dallas (Texas) High School, suffered a head injury and was hospitalized for several days in Norman Regional Hospital's intensive care unit.

``According to investigators, the victim and his family do not want to pursue criminal charges and have refused to cooperate with law enforcement,'' District Attorney Tim Kuykendall said Monday.

``Without the victim's cooperation and without other evidence with which to proceed, we have no choice but to decline prosecution.''

Dvoracek, 23, was arrested in July 2002 for public intoxication.
