Dozens of people gathered Tuesday at the city plaza in downtown Tulsa to talk about equal rights.

Their main focus, State Question 711, which is on the November ballot. The question would amend the state constitution to define marriage to be between one man and one woman.

State Senator Judy Easom-McIntyre: "We hear every Sunday, did I choose that as my lifestyle? I didn't choose it as my lifestyle, but I think they should be treated fairly under the American Constitution."

State Question 711 would prohibit giving the benefits of marriage to people who are not married, and would make same-sex marriages in other states invalid in Oklahoma.
