The investigation continues into a weekend fire at a Creek County home that critically wounded a couple.

Firefighters were called to the Sapulpa home at 221 West Cleveland Sunday afternoon and found it engulfed in flames. When they arrived, neighbors were trying to rescue the victims. Investigators say it appears the fire started in the kitchen. They say there were not any working smoke alarms.

Sapulpa Fire Chief Jackie Carner: "That would have given them enough of a warning. If they were asleep, to awaken them and given them a head start to get out and that's very sad for us.”

The names of the victims have not been released. The home is a total loss.
