Tulsa homicide detectives are searching for clues in a south Tulsa murder. They say a young college student was murdered in her own apartment.

News on 6 reporter Ashli Sims has been following the case and says 18-year-old Brittany Phillips was described by police as a nice girl who was working on a college degree.

Relatives have been trying to get in touch with her for days. They found her strangled inside her south Tulsa apartment Thursday night. Brittany Phillips lived at the Glen Eagles Apartments near 65th and Mingo.

Officers found Phillips' back patio door open and her, dead on the floor. They think she'd been dead for a couple of days. Police say Phillips attended Tulsa Community College, her mother lives in Chandler, Oklahoma.

Tulsa detectives say they have ruled out at least one person as a suspect in the case.

If you have information about this case, you can call Crimestoppers at 596-COPS. You don't have to give your name and if your tip leads to an arrest, the Citizens Crime Commission will pay you a cash reward.
