LITTLE ROCK (AP) -- The Big Bass Bonanza, a fishing tournament that takes place on the length of the Arkansas River, has been postponed until mid July.
The tournament was to have taken place this Friday through Sunday, but the Army Corps of Engineers has kept in place a small craft warning for the Arkansas River.
The corps says it issues a warning when flows exceed 70,000 cubic feet per second. Flows currently are twice that, at 14,000 cubic feet per second. Conditions are considered hazardous for small watercraft because of swift currents, floating debris and bobbing or missing channel markers.
The tournament has been rescheduled for July 13th through the 15th.
The Arkansas Big Bass Bonanza will pay $100,000 to the angler with the biggest catch.
The tournament says refunds are available for those who signed up but can't participate on the rescheduled date.
