WAYNE, N.J. (AP) _ Surveillance tape from a high school where pyrotechnic devices were found this week shows two hooded people putting suspicious items into lockers before class, authorities said.

Sheriff's spokesman Bill Maer said the people were seen putting the devices into two lockers as they walked around the second floor of Wayne Valley High School on Wednesday.

About 1,400 students were evacuated after four suspicious devices with fuses were found in two lockers on the second floor on Wednesday, a day before final exams.

Maer declined to say what time the people were seen walking around or how many students had been questioned in connection with the devices. No one has been arrested.

Passaic County Prosecutor James Avigliano described the bundled sticks as ``pyrotechnic devices,'' but not dynamite or fireworks.

The devices were found after a student noticed their fuses hanging from a locker. The 5- to 6-inch long sticks were removed by a bomb squad and detonated in a safe area, causing ``a fireball and huge amount of purplish-gray smoke,'' Stouthamer said.

Final exams began Thursday as scheduled at the school, about 20 miles northwest of New York City.
