WAYNE, N.J. (AP) _ A high school was evacuated after suspicious devices were found in the building Wednesday, one day before final exams, authorities said.
The items may have been fireworks, sheriff's spokesman Bill Maer said.
``They were definitely pyrotechnic in nature,'' he said.
The Passaic County sheriff's bomb squad removed about four suspicious objects from Wayne Valley High School and detonated them in a safe area, Maer said. He said preliminary reports indicated they were found in locker.
Final exams at the school were scheduled to begin Thursday and classes to end for the summer on June 21. The school is about 20 miles northwest of New York City.
