CHANDLER, Okla. (AP) -- The trial of a woman whose 2-year-old daughter died of child abuse is being moved out of Lincoln County. Raye Dawn Smith is charged with child neglect and enabling child abuse in the death of Kelsey Smith-Briggs of Meeker nearly two years ago.
Smith's trial was to start July 9th but the judge in the case approved a request by her attorney to move the trial to Bristow in neighboring Creek County.
The child died in October 2005 of blunt force trauma to the abdomen and her stepfather -- Michael Lee Porter -- was later charged with murder.
Porter pleaded guilty earlier this year to a reduced charge of enabling child abuse and is serving 30 years in prison.
