There is a newly crowned Miss Oklahoma Sunday. Twenty-three-year-old Makenna Smith, a nursing graduate at Oklahoma City University, won the state pageant and will receive a $16,000 scholarship.
Smith tells us that she's looking forward to talking to children and sharing her own, personal story of survival about a collision on an Oklahoma highway nearly killed her. The other person in the accident died, but it was her seatbelt that saved her life.
"Something we hardly ever think about on a day-to-day basis because we've heard it so much, but that day that my life was saved changed my life forever because I'm still standing here today," Smith said.
