EDMOND, Okla. (AP) -- The Hornets hold their first pre-draft workout today, bringing in four prospects as the team and prospective players try to adjust to new rules for such workouts.

Former DePaul shooting guard Sammy Mejia, former Fresno State forward Dominic McGuire, former Jackson State guard Trey Johnson and San Diego State point guard Brandon Heath participated in the NBA team's workouts in Edmond.

The NBA shortened the timeframe that teams have this year to bring prospects in for workouts, requiring that they start after the league's pre-draft camp in Florida, which was last week.

The first day teams could conduct workouts was June 5th.

The new rules leave teams only four weeks to bring in players, and the athletes a limited time to make enough of an impression to prove they're draft-worthy.

Another group of players is due in tomorrow as the Hornets try to identify who they will take with the 13th overall pick in the draft.
