OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A doctor in Tulsa is being sentenced to 90 days in jail and ordered to stop practicing medicine after he pleaded guilty today to Medicaid fraud and distributing prescription drugs without a medical basis.

Doctor Patrick Fahey was accused of illegally distributing prescription drugs such as Lortab, Oxycontin and Xanax from his sports medicine clinic.

Prosecutors say Fahey then submitted false claims to Medicaid and Medicare for payments for the drugs he prescribed unnecessarily.

Fahey is also being fined $1,000 and must pay $500 in victim compensation assessments, $250 in court costs and nearly $13,500 in investigative costs.
