OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Four of Oklahoma's U.S. representatives voted no today while the fifth voted yes as the House passed a bill to reduce the restrictions on stem cell research.
Republicans John Sullivan, Mary Fallin, Tom Cole and Frank Lucas voted against the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act.
Democrat Dan Boren voted for it as it passed by a vote of 247-176.
The bill now goes to President Bush who issued a written statement saying he will veto it.
Supporters say stem cell research could lead to treatments and cures for various diseases.
Critics say it could lead to the creation of cloned human embryos to be used in research and then destroyed.
