The Grand River Dam Authority is looking for volunteers who will help with trash pickup around Grand Lake in eastern Oklahoma this weekend. Grand Lake has about 1,300 miles of shoreline and GRDA officials say the goal of the annual shoreline cleanup day is two-fold. One, keep Grand Lake’s shoreline looking beautiful and two, removing shoreline trash that can be harmful to people, wildlife and the lake’s ecosystem.
Officials say one of the biggest concerns is old dock foam. Old dock foam is not biodegradable.
The GRDA will provide trash dumpsters, which will be in place at Cedar Oaks Storage Units in Grove (8020 Hwy 59 North); at Baker’s RV Ranch near Ketchum (31625 S 4510 Rd); and at Lakemont Shores Marina (37609 S 540 Rd).
The dumpsters will be available from 9 AM to 2 PM on June 9.
