A mother in Lindsay, Oklahoma is charged with felony child abuse after her one-year-old son was found inside a hot car. 21-year-old Mary Mowdy told Lindsay Police she only left her son in the car for 10 to 20 minutes while she was inside a grocery store. An anonymous caller notified police.
When officers arrived, they say the child was in the driver’s seat, screaming and covered in sweat. "When asked why she left the child in the car, she said she did not have an excuse, she said she did not know why she left her child in the car," said Lindsay Police Chief Eric Dodson.
The high temperature for that day was 80 degrees. Lindsay Police say the anonymous call may have saved the child’s life.
The child is now in his father's care.
