Two people died in a house fire early Sunday morning in Bartlesville. Fire officials say a next door neighbor reported seeing smoke coming from an eave in the home and called the fire department.
Firefighters arrived at the home in the 3900 block of East Harvey Road and forced their way inside. Fire officials say 59-year-old Linda Morrison and her husband 64-year old Gordon Morrison were both found dead due possibly to smoke inhalation.
Bartlesville Fire chief Bob Hasbrook says the preliminary cause of the fire was unextinguished smoking materials.
Hasbrook said neither victim was burned and that the fire had burned itself out by the time firefighters entered the home. He said that the clocks in the house had stopped about midnight, and that it's thought that is about the time the fire started.
Hasbrook says the home did not have any smoke detectors. Damage to the home was listed as minor.
