ORLANDO (AP) -- Billy Donovan is giving up his job as basketball coach at the University of Florida to become the Orlando Magic's head coach. The team is confirming the deal. GM Otis Smith calls Donovan a "winner" who is the perfect choice to lead the Magic.
Donovan leaves the Gators after leading them to consecutive national championships.
One NBA official says Donovan's deal is for five years, at $5.5 million a year. He earned $1.7 million in his final season at Florida.
