STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma State football coach Mike Gundy plans to fly with the Blue Angels before a centennial airshow at Tinker Air Force Base next month, military officials announced Wednesday.
Gundy was one of three Oklahomans selected to fly June 6 with the Navy flight team known for their high-speed aerobatic demonstrations.
Country music artist Thomas Martinez and NewsChannel 4 television reporter Lance West also were selected to fly in one of the squadron's F/A-18 jets. The flights will be held before the Star Spangled Salute Centennial Airshow, which will be held at Tinker June 9 and 10.
Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops flew with the Blue Angels during a show in Fort Worth, Texas, in May 2006. The pilot who flew Stoops, Lt. Cmdr. Kevin J. Davis of Pittsfield, Mass., died April 21 during a crash at an air show in Beaufort, S.C.
