An auto-pedestrian accident kills a 6-year-old Tulsa girl. It happened in the 2800 block of East Independence Tuesday night. Tulsa Police say the girl wandered into the street as she followed her teenage sister and was hit by a pickup truck. The 6 year old was rushed to St. Francis Hospital where she died.
Tulsa Police are not sure whether the pickup truck driver was speeding. Officers say that particular stretch of Independence is notorious for fast cars and is not a safe place for kids to play. “This is a very dangerous street for children because it's a major thoroughfare for this area. It has a 30 mile per hour zone,†said Tulsa Police Captain Steve Bayles.
The 31-year old pickup truck driver told Tulsa Police he did not see the girl until he hit her. Police are still investigating the accident.
