OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A pair of Oklahoma eighth-graders have earned their way to a national spelling bee.
Audrey Foote of Edmond and Bruce Haiduk of Broken Arrow have both qualified for the 80th annual Scripps National Spelling Bee that begins Wednesday in Washington.
Foote is a home-school student, and Haiduk attends Broken Arrow's Centennial Middle School.
They will be among 286 competitors at the two-day national event.
Oklahoma's last win was in 1965, when Michael Kerpan Junior correctly spelled ``eczema.''
