OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The state Department of Corrections is withdrawing a request to release nearly 150 illegal immigrants from prison early. Department of Corrections Director Justin Jones had asked that about 140 inmates who face immediate deportation be released early as a way to ease prison overcrowding. But Jones says he's dropping the request because it's getting no support from the governor's office or the state Pardon and Parole Board.

Governor Brad Henry spokesman Paul Sund says the governor doesn't support using parole as a way to control the prison population.
