HUGO, Okla. (AP) -- An eight-hour standoff has ended at a Choctaw County home where authorities found a woman dead. Choctaw County Sheriff's deputies say a man tied a noose around his neck and threatened to commit suicide Monday. His brother came from Independence, Missouri, to convince him to come down after hours in a tree at around 3:30 p.m.

Authorities had been called to the home near Hugo around 7 a.m. and found the body of 23-year-old Nicole Cherry.

Choctaw County Sheriff Lewis Collins says he expects charges to be filed this week in connection with her death.

The man involved in the standoff was taken into custody for questioning.
