WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Atlanta Braves activated former Oklahoma pitcher Mark Redman from the 15-day disabled list today in case he's needed to fill John Smoltz's spot in the rotation this weekend.
Redman has been sidelined by surgery for an ingrown nail on his right big toe. He's oh-and-four this season with a 10.62 ERA.
The Braves activated him in case Smoltz hasn't recovered enough from a dislocated right pinky to start against the Boston Red Sox this weekend.
Redman pitched for Oklahoma in 1994 and 1995. The Sooners won the national title in 1994.
