HAMMOND, La. (AP) -- Former Oklahoma State running back Jamaal Fobbs has been named wide receivers coach at Southeastern Louisiana University.
While at Oklahoma State, Fobbs broke Thurman Thomas' school record for rushing yards by a freshman. He still holds the school record for a single-game rushing performance by a freshman with 217 yards against Louisiana-Lafayette in 1997.
He also is the Cowboys' all-time leader in kickoff return and all-purpose yards. The Indianapolis Colts signed him in 2002 and he played for the Frankfort Galaxy in NFL Europe.
Fobbs most recently served as volunteer assistant quarterbacks coach at North Carolina A&T. Prior to that, he was a graduate offensive assistant at Louisiana State in 2005.
Fobbs' hiring still needs approval from the University of Louisiana System's Board of Supervisors.
