HOUSTON (AP) -- The charitable organization of oilman and Oklahoma native Boone Pickens is giving a total of $100 million to two leading Texas medical centers.

The University of Texas' M-D Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas will each receive $50 million.

The money will go to a fund that must grow to $500 million through earnings or other donations before the centers can use it however they see fit.

Pickens is a former member of the Board of Visitors of the cancer center.

Pickens is a native of Holdenville and a 1951 geology graduate of Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State University.

He's donated about $250 million dollars to OSU in recent years.
