OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahoma City University pitcher Phil Bartleski signs a free-agent contract with the New York Yankees organization.
Bartleski, a 6-foot-7, 240-pound right-hander from Charlottesville, Virginia, went 10-1 this season with a 3.29 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 82 innings for the Stars, who finished 50-11.
He is the third OCU player this year to sign with a Major League Baseball organization, joining pitchers Cody McAllister and Tony Snow, who signed with the Boston Red Sox and Florida Marlins, respectively.
OCU coach Denney Crabaugh has had 97 players sign pro contracts during his 20 seasons at the NAIA powerhouse.
Three have reached the major leagues -- Freddy Sanchez, the National League batting champion last season with the Pittsburgh Pirates; pitcher Chris Schroder, who spent part of last season with the Washington Nationals; and pitcher Joe Bisenius, who had two appearances earlier this season for the Philadelphia Phillies.
