OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A bill that gives doctors who donate their time to clinics more protection from lawsuits is now law.
Governor Henry signed the bill which allows health care providers coverage under the Governmental Tort Claims Act.
The act already protects volunteer firefighters and medical students.
Supporters of the bill say it will allows doctors to volunteer to treat the uninsured and underinsured without worrying about being sued.
The law goes into effect November 1st.
