DENVER (AP) _ Fred Lewis gave his mom a cycle for mother's day.

The rookie hit for the cycle just four days after he was brought back from the minor leagues, going 5-for-6 with four RBIs and his first major league home run to lead the San Francisco Giants past the Colorado Rockies 15-2 Sunday.

``This was my Mothers Day gift to mom,'' he said. ``I called her to tell her I hadn't gotten her anything _ until now.''

Lewis became the 22nd player in franchise history to hit for the cycle. He doubled in the first, and hit 1-0 pitch over the left-field wall in the fourth off Taylor Buchholz (1-2). He greeted reliever Tom Martin with a run-scoring triple in the fifth and sent a Denny Bautista fastball into right field for a single in the seventh. Lewis added another single later in the seventh off Bautista.

He became just the fourth major leaguer to hit his first home run as part of a cycle.

``I didn't wake up thinking I'd have a game like this. I never would have thought I'd have a day like today. I am just glad to get into the lineup,'' Lewis said after his 16th major league game and just his fourth start.

In other games it was San Diego 3, St. Louis 0; New York 9, Milwaukee 1; Pittsburgh 13, Atlanta 2; Washington 6, Florida 4; Chicago 4, Philadelphia 1; Houston 5, Arizona 2; and Los Angeles 10, Cincinnati 5.

At Denver, visiting San Francisco had a season-best 22 hits, including a career-high four by Kevin Frandsen. Matt Cain (2-3) gave up one run and five hits in six innings.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy praised Lewis effusively.

``Fred has so many skills, both at the plate and in the field,'' Bochy said. ``He is something special and someone that will only get better with time. He hasn't been playing baseball that long. He has a football background. He will get better. He isn't bad right now.''

Justin Germano (1-0) allowed three hits in seven innings for his second major league win, his first since beating Philadelphia in his big league debut on May 22, 2004. Visiting St. Louis was shut out for the sixth time, the most in the major leagues. Anthony Reyes (0-6) allowed three runs, five hits and three walks in five innings and has lost seven straight regular-season decisions dating to Sept. 3.

San Diego took a 2-0 lead in the first when Brian Giles hit a run-scoring groundout and Adrian Gonzalez followed with an RBI single.
