OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A non-partisan coalition of about 40 organizations is urging Governor Henry to veto a tax-cut package sent to him by the Legislature.
The Alliance for Oklahoma's Future says the tax-cut plan would further erode the state's revenue base and prevent adequate funding of essential state services.
The measure before the governor would eliminate the franchise tax for small businesses, implement a tax cut for stay-at-home moms, set up a back-to-school sales tax holiday and speed up when previously approved income tax cuts take effect.
The alliance says the consequences of the tax cuts would include higher tuition, understaffed prisons and waiting lists for people seeking services for mental health problems and developmental disabilities.
