DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- An Iowa insurance company says it expects losses up to $21 million from storms last weekend.
EMC Insurance of Des Moines insures several businesses and homes in Greensburg, plus the town's junior high and high school and the Kiowa County government.
The company says its adjusters were allowed into the damaged areas on Tuesday and began writing checks that day.
By Thursday, EMC adjusters had inspected all properties and vehicles except for some heavy equipment buried in debris.
A company executive says it may be a while before the final figures are known, but the company estimates about $18 million to $21 million in losses.
EMC Insurance has assets of nearly $3 billion and more than 2,100 employees.
