OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A teenager was treated at an Oklahoma City hospital after being swept away by floodwaters in a drainage canal here, authorities said Thursday. The 17-year old, whose name wasn't immediately released, was apparently near the canal at N.W. 56th Street and Military Avenue about 6 p.m. with another teen. Heavy thunderstorms caused water levels across the Oklahoma City metropolitan area to rise and inundated local roads.
The teen who was swept away was found and taken to an area hospital suffering from abrasions and minor cuts, officials said.
The other teen rescued himself, an Oklahoma City Fire Department spokesman said.
