NASA pays tribute to an engineer killed on the job. David Beverly graduated from Broken Arrow High School. He was shot and killed after another employee took him hostage on Friday. News On 6 anchor Terry Hood reports family and friends packed an auditorium at Johnson Space Center in Houston to say goodbye to Beverly.

David Beverly always wanted the best for NASA, which was his job; he worked in a quality assurance lab.

Almost 700 friends and family gathered at Johnson Space Center on Wednesday to give Beverly the best send-off possible. His wife says David would have loved to be around so many people who cared about him.

"My wish is this be a day of joy. I really, if you leave here without laughing today, we've done the wrong thing to celebrate this man and what he is," said Davidâ€™s wife Linda Beverly.

Several members of David's NASA family retold happier memories. He loved to race motorcycles and had ridden cross-country with his wife. One co-worker remembered how David cheated death a year ago, when he crashed his motorcycle at a Texas speedway. Several others told stories about how David brought joy to their lives through work, leaving a smile on his widow's face.

David will be buried in Houston on Thursday. Another memorial service is planned back in Broken Arrow in a week or so.
