Skelly Stadium’s days are numbered. The University of Tulsa plans to rename Skelly in honor of the Chapman family, who contributed half of the estimated $18 million needed for the renovation of the stadium.

The facility will be renamed Skelly Field at H.A. Chapman Stadium. The name change takes place beginning next season.

Renovations at Skelly include new seating, restrooms and a new scoreboard. The university is also renovating the press box to include luxury suites.

Skelly Stadium opened on October 4, 1930. It was named for William Skelly who gave $125,000 to TU’s Stadium Fund Drive. The rest of the money, $175,000, was raised by Tulsa businessmen.
