UNDATED (AP) -- The Toronto Raptors were unable to win their first NBA playoff game in five years.
Richard Jefferson pumped in 28 points and the New Jersey Nets opened the league's postseason schedule with a 96-91 win at Toronto. Jason Kidd finished 2-points shy of his tenth career playoff triple-double, contributing 15 assists and 10 rebounds to the win. Vince Carter added 16 points on 5-19 shooting but hit a key free throw in the closing seconds.
The Raptors were able to cut a 13-point 4th-quarter deficit to 1 with about four minutes left before losing.
Chris Bosh had 22 points for the Raptors, who don't host Game Two until Tuesday.
The Miami Heat are in the second half of their playoff game against the Bulls in Chicago. Saturday night it'll be Orlando at Detroit and Houston hosting Utah.
