NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- A U.S. Air Force staff sergeant was sentenced to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to molesting an 8-year-old Norman girl.

Steven Jay Beacham of Midwest City pleaded guilty to lewd molestation as his jury trial was about to begin.

Court documents say the girl's mother contacted police after the girl told her of being sexually abused twice by Beacham last March.
