Oklahomans are answering the need after a call for help from residents in the northeastern part of the U.S. Volunteers from the American Red Cross in Tulsa are going to New York and New Hampshire to help those affected by the storm, which has caused flooding problems across the region.
The volunteers will work in shelters, as well as provide food, beverages, and physical and mental health care for the next three weeks.
The News On 6 talked volunteer Elizabeth Tolbert, who is making the trip and she says you never knows what to expect. "I don't know, I've been told so many times that every disaster is a completely different experience. So, you just kind of have to go in there, learn from the experience and adapt."
In all, over a dozen Red Cross volunteers are helping in the effort.
