STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) -- Junior college forward Anthony Brown signed a letter of intent Tuesday to play for Oklahoma State.
The 6'8, 235-pound forward averaged 21.4 points and 7.6 rebounds last season at Carl Albert State College. He could help the Cowboys replace departing senior forward Mario Boggan, who led the team with averages of 19.0 points and 7.6 rebounds.
"Anthony is somebody that we felt like we really needed," Oklahoma State coach Sean Sutton said. "You look at the makeup of our team next year and we are going to have young post players. We felt like we needed somebody that not only was a talented player, but somebody that would provide some experience."
Brown shot 56% from the field and was 17-39 from 3-point range last season. He also received scholarship offers from Kansas State and Nevada.
"Anthony has got a lot of ability," Sutton said. "He's athletic and strong, physical with a Big 12 body. He's an excellent scorer. That was something that was really appealing to us. Not only is he an experienced, strong, physical player, but he's also a guy that can score points on the block."
