It is tax day across Oklahoma and while many have already received their "tax refunds" by now, many procrastinating Oklahomans are waiting until today to file their state and federal taxes. U.S. Post Offices around the state are ready for those last minute filers. Post office employees expect to see crowds of people who will wait until tonight to mail in their tax forms.
If you have waited until today to file, make sure you have your return address on the envelope and enough postage. In addition, double check the collection times where you will be dropping off your return. “"If you get it all correctly prepared you need to be sure that if you drop it on a box on the street or inside the post office, the letter drop, that you read and make sure the collection time is, that you've made the collection time," says Beth Fisk with the U.S. Postal Service.
If you are waiting until the very last minute, there are a couple of locations in Tulsa that will be open until midnight. The U.S. Post Office air mail facility at Tulsa International Airport at 2161 North Cargo Road and the downtown U.S. Post Office at 4th and Denver. The rest of the post offices around Tulsa will only be open until 8 p.m.
