UNDATED (AP) _ Wal-Mart has regained its status atop the Fortune 500 list. The company is the largest in the U.S., as measured by sales. The Bentonville-based retailer beat out Exxon-Mobil.
Wal-Mart had been the sales leader among companies for four years until soaring fuel prices pushed Exxon-Mobil to the top in last year's rankings.
Wal-Mart had revenue of $351.1 billion and a profit of $11.3 billion last year. Exxon-Mobil's profit was much larger, at $39.5 billion, but its sales were $347.3 billion.
Fortune magazine annually ranks the 500 largest publicly traded U.S. companies.
