A young man from Muskogee is dead, after he is shot while driving a pickup truck onto a Tulsa expressway. The shooting happened at 51st Street and the U.S. Highway 169 early Sunday morning. Tulsa Police say three people in the victim’s vehicle were headed to a Tulsa club.
A Tulsa newspaper reports Tulsa Police say the occupants of two other vehicles were following the victim’s pickup truck and opened fire as the truck entered U.S. Highway 169. Police say at least 14 bullets hit the truck.
The News On 6 has learned the driver of the pickup was hit twice by gunfire and died at the scene. Tulsa Police have not released the victim’s name. Two other people in the pickup truck were not hurt. "Right now there is no certain motive for the shooting. The 3 gentlemen in the truck were from Muskogee and had been in town to a nightclub," says Tulsa Police Captain Matt Kirkland.
Police say the pickup truck had stopped at a gas station before getting on the highway. Tulsa Police say they found a number of shell casings at the scene of the shooting and believe at least two weapons were used in the attack. Officers say they're still trying to determine a motive for the shooting.
