STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) _ After losing the Number 1 spot following a couple of late-season stumbles, Michigan rebounds with a third-place finish in the NCAA gymnastics championship in Pennsylvania.
Oklahoma, going for a third straight national title, qualified Thursday night as defending all-around champion Jonathan Horton delivered another solid performance.
Tournament host Penn State led the evening session with 218-point-9, followed by OU at 218.6 and Minnesota at 216.9.
Michigan edged Number 1 Ohio State 215.35 to 215.25 for third in the first qualifying session.
In individual competition, Horton scored a 9.65 on the floor exercises and a 9.8 on the rings.
The Gophers' Jacob Lee compiled the highest all-around score for the evening, edging Horton, 54.45 to 54.35.
