TOKYO (AP) _ Nissan Motor Co. said Thursday it is recalling about 113,000 minivans sold only Japan over an exhaust pipe problem.

Nissan is recalling Serena minivans produced between April 2005 and August 2006, according to a company report sent to Japan's Transport Ministry and posted on the ministry's Web site.

Welded parts of the model's exhaust pipe could corrode, and in worst cases the pipe could fall off, Nissan said in its report. There were 46 reported cases of problems but no accidents, it said.

Serena is not sold overseas, according to Nissan spokesman Keiko Hoshino.

Meanwhile, Mazda Motor Corp. announced the recall of about 4,300 Bongo commercial vehicles over a control unit problem in the vehicle's automatic shift system.

Drivers may not be able to shift gears, Mazda said in a report to the ministry.

The company received 61 reports of problems but none of accidents, the report said.

Mazda's recall also involves the same model sold by Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors Corp., about 500 cars each. The vehicles subject to recall were made between December 2003 and November 2005.

All three companies said the model is not sold overseas.
