CLAREMORE, Okla. (AP) _ An Arkansas man accused of kidnapping the ex-wife of country music superstar Garth Brooks in Owasso is being released. Rogers County prosecutors say Quintine Cornelius Harper of Fayetteville, Arkansas, pleaded no contest to charges of kidnapping and pointing a firearm. As part of a plea deal Harper was sentenced to 7 years in prison with 6 years suspended.

After getting credit for time served he was released.

Prosecutors say Harper abducted Sandy Brooks in April 2006 from her home in Owasso after trying to extort $16,000 from her to pay a bond agent.

Brooks was forced to drive about six miles before she was able to escape.

Assistant District Attorney Ray Hasselman says Brooks is happy with the deal.

Sandy and Garth Brooks divorced in 2001 after 15 years of marriage.
