BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (AP) Golfer Cristie Kerr appears in Broken Arrow Monday and says she's happy for a friend of hers who made golf history.
Kerr was in Oklahoma to promote next month's SemGroup Championship, an event she won last year.
She had to delay her flight to Tulsa Sunday, though, as she first wanted to congratulate 18-year-old Morgan Pressel, who became the youngest player ever to win an LPGA major when she captured the title in the Kraft Nabisco Championship.
Pressel served as one of the bridesmaids in Kerr's December wedding. Both are from south Florida.
The 29-year-old Kerr says Pressel is a very tenacious kind of golfer and the kind of person that won't let anything keep her down for long.
Kerr says she wasn't surprised to see an Pressel's drive, even at such a young age, rewarded with a major title because she felt she had that determination early in her career, too.
Kerr has posted eight of her nine career wins in the past three years.
