Fire investigators say they may never know what caused a Tulsa Public School bus to catch fire. Fast-moving flames destroyed one of the buses parked inside the TPS bus barn Tuesday. The driver was preparing for an afternoon run when she saw smoke. She shut the bus off and ran for help. When the mechanics arrived, the bus was engulfed in flames.
"They tried to put the bus out and went through several fire extinguishers, were not able to put it out and the fire department had to come and put the bus out," said Fleet Operations Manager Doug Charette.
Two mechanics suffered minor smoke inhalation but will be okay. Investigators say the bus is so badly damaged they can't pinpoint the cause of the fire.
