EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) _ The name is the same. The number is the same. The school is the same.
But any basketball similarity between Pat Ewing Junior and his father stops there. They are different players.
The younger Ewing has accepted living and playing in the shadow of the man who in 1984 led Georgetown to its only NCAA basketball title.
Now the younger Ewing is heading into the East Regional Final of the tournament with the Hoyas. And the comparisons with his father's college career are all around.
Ewing Junior transferred to Georgetown after two seasons at Indiana. The 6'8 forward is not a starter. In the Hoyas' 66-65 win over Vanderbilt, Ewing played 17 minutes with 7-points on 2-5 shooting, 3-rebounds, an assist and 3-turnovers.
Georgetown forward Jeff Green, the Big East Conference player of the year, says opposing fans can be tough on Ewing. The fans say Ewing isn't as good as his dad. But Green says ``Pat'' is good at blocking all that out.
